The Life O'Riley have been delivering Irish music to often reluctant audiences since 2003 and during this time we have made many friends and had some cracking nights!

It would be fair to say, that The Life O'Riley could be compared to Marmite!!...You are either gonna love it, or you are going to hate it....but either way, you are NOT likely to forget the taste of it in a hurry!!

In the nanny state in which we now reside, we tend to buck many of the Health and Safety Trends which have been forced upon us, and take FULL responsibility for our own stupidity should any of us fall off the table which we are dancing on at the time

How would we best describe ourselves?...Take a dash of The Pogues at their drunken best, add a pinch of The Dubliners, a couple of splashes of The Waterboys, one or two teaspoons of The Saw Doctors and a heaped ladel of Flogging Molly and tip the whole lot into a blender!....Hit the ON button and STAND WELL BACK!!!

The Life O'Riley are not just an Irish band, we pride ourselves on being an experience. The Life O'Riley are perfect for the night which you don't want people to forget in a hurry!!

What can you expect? Well, dont be expecting a Fiddly-Diddly-Dee band, as we are about as far removed from Fiddly-Diddly-Dee as you can get - Though we can do Fiddly-Diddly-Dee if we put our minds to it.

We kind of aspire to be unconventional in what we do, we have never played a gig, expecting to be invited back and we are uncompromising in our delivery of a cracking nights entertainment!!

Irish music is unpredictable, often chaotic, occasionally moving, but always energetic!! That just about adequately sums the band up!!

The Life O'Riley is typically a 5 piece band, however we are occasionally a 7 or 8 piece, dependent upon who is pissed and who is in prison!!

Steve is 41 years old with a mental age of approximately 9 years old. He spends his waking hours juggling work, cursing the inadequacies of the British rail network and rehearsing for the band. Steve as a Frontman is something to behold, his behaviour meanders from the erratic to the manic and would appear to be directly proportional to the number of pints he has had both before and during the gig!!

Rob Millner hails from Eltham in London and is quite possibly one of the finest fiddle players that the band have had the privilege of playing with.

With us for just under a year now, Rob has embraced the concept of the band and we are extremely lucky to have him.

Rob, believe it or not, is also a semi-professional Opera singer and wears tights!!

Rob lives in Gosport - well someone has to! He can often be seen screaming up the A32 in a supercharged mini. Heavily influenced by the Be-atles, Mans Brown Ale, keyboard wizard Jimmy Smith and loads of cider. Past history includes playing keyboards for the rock bands "Ain't got a clue" and "Wax Lyrical". Currently playing guitar with 60s cover band "The Minkees".

Al has stepped into the formidable shoes of our long-time, and recently departed bassist and is doing a fantastic job in such a bloody short space of time...Onwards and Upwards!!

Al is also a member of Punk "Legends in their own lounge" - PondLife!

Jeff has joined the band and brought with him something of a rock passion, with a twist of impending doom...Anyone who can justify spending 8k on a set of drums just HAS to be crazy enough to be part of THIS band!!

When not drumming with The Life O'Riley, Jeff can be found pounding away for The Minkees and Damaged Goods

Steve is the only Irish member of The Life O'Riley, discovered at the Open Mic session held every Sunday evening at The Tap Public House, North End, Portsmouth.

Steve hails from Portsmouth and when he is not busy Bhodraning, he can be found rescuing maidens from flaming buildings or cats from trees!

Steve also plays with local band Tarred 'n' Feathered.
   
   
   
   
Mandolin
   
Graham is our deputising Mandolin player and a very accomplished and polished individual. Playing in a variety of bands, as well as teaching all stringed instruments, Graham doesn't always get to play in all of our gigs, however when he does the performance only ever benefits from it!
